Turnip + Duck is a creator studio with collaboration at the heart of what we do. We are constantly trying to figure out how best to use new tools and creative technologies, and in particular how to manage the ethical considerations around these choices.

The following code of conduct is our attempt at creating a set of guidelines relating to generative artificial intelligence programmes, and how we as a company intend to use them as part of what we do.

This code of conduct is a work in progress and will likely evolve over time. Our hope is that by being transparent and sharing our approach, we can start to see past the problem and be an active part of the solution.

Code of Conduct

1. We believe that any kind of synthesised process or artificial intelligence can and will never replace the full depth of nuanced human creativity
   

2. We value the skills, craft and time of visual artists, designers, illustrators, animators, directors and writers and will continue to work with real life human beings when and wherever possible
   

3. We acknowledge the potential advantages of using new technologies such as generative image AI programmes to increase efficiencies of communication between creative collaborators
   

4. We believe this relationship if managed correctly can improve the collaborative process, leading to more enjoyable work and better end products
   

5. We will continue to embrace and explore new technologies as an innovative writer-led creator studio
   

6. We will continue to create the highest quality stories, art, and entertainment that we can through the myriad means available to us
   

7. We will endeavour to do so ethically in a way that is open, transparent, respectful and collaborative
   

8. We hope to play a part in creating a culture of best practice as we the creative industries collectively figure out how to operate ethically in this new paradigm
